Advanced Lateral Flow Conference 2024 Innovation Award Winners Announced

Awards Recognize Products and Technologies That Expand the LFA Industry

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Advanced Lateral Flow Conference (ALFC) is proud to announce the winners of its 2024 awards, recognizing outstanding achievements and contributions in the lateral flow diagnostics industry. The awards were presented during the conference held February 13–14, 2024, at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego, Calif.

Innovation Award

The Innovation Award recognizes developers, creators, or direct facilitators of groundbreaking products and novel technologies that push the boundaries of the industry. Finalists pitch their innovations at ALFC, with the audience selecting the winner.

  • Winner: LFAnt, for the Compact, the world’s first handheld and portable magnetic lateral flow reader platform for quantitative testing from point of care to anywhere.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award honors individuals or organizations who have dedicated their careers to advancing lateral flow diagnostics and made significant contributions over a sustained period.

  • Winner: Dr. Thomas Tisone, BioDot cofounder, for his visionary entrepreneurship and substantial contributions to lab automation.

Leadership in Diagnostics Award

The Leadership in Diagnostics Award highlights individuals or organizations demonstrating outstanding leadership, collaboration, and strategic vision in driving the growth of the lateral flow diagnostics industry.

  • Winner: Ted Meigs, Kinematic Automation (part of Ascential Medical & Lifesciences), whose extensive experience in automation and design has influenced the LFA industry significantly.

Poster Awards

The ALFC Poster Awards recognize the most innovative and impactful research presented during the ALFC 2024 poster sessions. These awards are determined by a panel of ALFC judges.

  • Winner (tie): Dr. Nicolas Heureux’s team at Kimialys; and John Kelly, the founder and CEO of Atomo Diagnostics.
